Which tax year does this calculator use?
This calculator is configured for the UK 2025/26 tax year (6 April 2025 to 5 April 2026).
Does it include National Insurance?
Yes. It estimates employee (Class 1) National Insurance on an annualised basis, assuming category A.
Do Scotland bands differ from the rest of the UK?
Yes. Scotland has different Income Tax bands and rates. National Insurance is UK-wide.
Is this the same as an HMRC PAYE calculation?
Not exactly. HMRC PAYE operates per payroll period and can differ due to rounding, tax codes, and adjustments. This tool is an annual estimate.
Does it include student loans?
Not yet. Student loan and postgraduate loan deductions are currently excluded.
